Man, you all want a skatepark! SkateNelson.org was getting hits before the site was finished being built. We have just 15 names with emails of people who have joined, but the enthusiasm in the comments is impressive, like:
“dude we need a park bad and im all for it just let me know how i can help.“
“I”m just happy to see this sight and many of the skaters dreams are coming along to being completed. Hope peeps see that this is a very noble cause.”
“I REALLY want this thing to happen!!!“
This is a great start. We all know there are more people out there who would like to see a park. We need them to join, too. Pass the word to non-skaters, as well. They might enjoy just hanging-out and watching skaters. Tell your neighbors. Tell your parents.Also, tell us all your good suggestions about this skatepark. We’ll get the ideas flowing. Suggest a site, a source of funding, type of park, designers, wood vs. concrete… whatever.

i personally would like a concrete park, but for good of the skaters and swiftness, i’m thinkin wood, the site i would have to say is the basketball courts at the community center. I think this would be a great spot because theres lots of room to work around it with, plenty of parking and the community center facilities to boot. I believe thats the most promising spot, anyone disagree

well I ordered myself a skatenelson board. I think that we definately should get the sub commitee together and present our proposal. also we need to start looking for business sponsors and donations.
I have made flyers for skatenelson.org and plan to distribute throught Nelson County High School today(monday) and post them up on the walls hopefully we can have alot more people join.As in concrete or wood park i think it should be wood, it doesnt need as much maintenance and its smooth to skate on,and as in site i think that the old basketball court at the community center would be a ncie spot.

i think the band thing is a good idea if we can get it all together….and the skate game seems fun and a godo way to raise some funds……what does everyone think about these options….what about you Timo?
To get some extra money we could do some fundraising like work bingo in lynchburg and maybe even concesions for uva. Also im sure someone with the funds would be willing to throw some free money our way.
Hey garth lets see if we could contact Doug from the Ben & Jerrys. i’m sure he would let us help raising money for the park while letting us work for him in the consessions. Besides that Caleb was telling me about a group in UVA that was gonna give charlottesville some money for the mac park up there. now that there tearing it down why don’t we see if we can use it. Or better yet, why don’t we ask charlottswille if we can use the some of the stuff macintire had????? HAHA we are geniuses
thats a reallyl good idea…..why are they tearing down macintire park?…well never the less we should see if there willing to give us some of the old stuff or give it to us for a reduced price.
